It’s 11:15 P.M. I just got home after working to set up a Nativity Exhibit of 600+nativities from all parts of the U.S. and many parts of the world. Why spend hundreds of hours over the past eight years to make this happen each year? It is because we involved want to share the joy the Savior brought into our lives with those around us. As I watched your video and heard the music that joy seemed more real and more possible. The distances perceived because of the slant of our eyes, the color of our skins, and our economic situations seemed much shorter as I thought of how His love has the ability to help us love each other. The joy infused in each face, in the lyrics and the music made me think about my Savior in a different way. Thank you! I feel the joy!
Everyone has stories of joy and service–if you think you don’t–think again. My experience has been: the greater the sacrifice, the greater the joy.
The most tender service, besides helping my daughters with their newborns, was on the other end of life when I was privileged to be there for my dad and stepmother at the end of their lives. Both died of cancer and one had a large open wound that had to be attended to twice daily. Precious moments included quiet talks, hand holding, and learning together to process involved at the end of life and reminding each other of our hope of Eternal Life. We reminisced, laughed, cried, and clung to every day we were allowed to still be together.
At their deaths, my sister took the lead in the arduous task of planning the funerals and disposing of their estates.
My sister and I reflected later that my contribution came from my gift to minister among the sick and the afflicted and my sister’s gift to organize and prepare other needful things. One gift was not more important than the other.
Our family had been hard hit at that time. Although my sister had just lost her 18 year old son in a tragic accident just 17 days before our father passed, she was able to serve in planning the details of a second funeral and not much later, a third.
In these bittersweet times, I learned to find joy in the journey as described by President Monson wherein he stated:
“This is our one and only chance at mortal life–here and now. The longer we live the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come and they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you plan for that elusive and non-existent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey–now.”
I would never trade the seemingly large sacrifices I made to spend that time with two people who were very dear to me. In the end, it was no sacrifice compared to the joy that still endures in those memories and relationships. I believe one of the keys to that joy was in taking the opportunity to use my own spiritual gifts.
Thank you BYU and ALL of the talented people who put together such an inspiring Christmas video and song. I hope that you don’t mind sharing it with my Seminary class. I’ll pass it along. I pray that this gift may lift us all to be more Christlike this season and throughout the year. Merry Christmas!

It is not found in stuff or the obtaining of stuff, but in relationships with those around us, those who mean something to us, and those we do not know, but can love anyway as we see them as Christ sees them. Wow! How thankful I am…my heart is filled with gratitude. I am a BYU alumni ‘85 and Mark Philbrick came with us on tour several times to take pictures as I performed with the Lamanite Generation, in the “good ol’ days!”(such precious memories with Janie Thompson and other generators)
I am a single parent and an empty nester…last night,I dropped in on a happily married friend to say hello. Her home was beautifully decorated and her husband and children were buzzing around. We chatted and laughed! It was joyful! Afterwards, I drove home to an empty house, turned on my Christmas lights on my tree (not yet decorated). Feeling just a tad bit empty I knelt in prayer and thanked the Lord for my blessings and His spirit that again, calmed my soul….all the experiences in my life up to now, ie. traveling in my work, speaking, extended family, and my precious son, who is now living with his girlfriend. This new situation opens my heart to a deeper level of charity, of love unfeigned…
Today, I again, recommit to quietly reflect on HIM, My Savior, and send love to my brothers and sisters throughout the world, and to you, dear reader.
Thank you to Mark Philbrick for his eyes of the camera, to the dear brother in South America, and to the all the musicans, vocalist, and computer savvy people who put this together. Seeing this video and music opens my heart to widen my perspective…for the magnitude of the people of the earth and Our Savior and Redeemer. He lives. He lives in our hearts. He lives in the eyes of our children. He stirs our souls, to become One with HIM.
Merry Christmas! HE lives.

Great job; the pictures with the song are truly inspiring. I first met you in Germany back in 1980. You had just arrived in country, and I was getting ready to return to “the world”. Even then, we all knew you had great musical talent, and that we would probably be hearing from you again. (If you don’t remember me, that’s OK; I was Elder Smith’s comp in Baumholder, and you were paired with Elder Lindsay, the DL.)

and save it to a CD or DVD, but in that case you would have to play it through a computer. If you put that downloaded file into a movie-making program like Apple’s iMovie or something comparable on the Windows side, you could then burn it to a DVD. Hope that helps. – Stephen

I had been overwhelmed by life this morning. Watching the video and listening to the music brought me to tears of joy and gratitude for the Savior who helps me carry my daily burdens. Thanks for the beautiful reminder to be joyful for this wonderful gift.

What a wonderful piece of music and lyrics!
It is so great to hear a new contemporary piece that also tells the joy of Christmas.
I think the pictures are good but need serious work to carry the message better. There are a lot of poor people and many black people which is okay in itself but does not present a balanced presentation of joy to EVERYONE. To me the visuals fall short of providing the impact that the music and lyrics do. The photographer is obviously talented and I am not critisizing the art, mearly suggesting a more accurate presentation of the EVERYONE message. A mixed set of photos, carefully organized, would build on the fact that Christmas the joy is truly for everyone.
Wow! having made a tough assessment of the pictures, I went back and listened again and now feel that my comments were completely wrong. I think the music And lyrics overcame me because I now think the pictures are very well done and in fact present a balanced picture of EVERYONE. Please forgive my prior comments and erase those comments. And please accept my sincere congratulations on a positively wonderful gift for Christmas.

I have listened to this over 50 times since you have sent it, and shared it with all my family and friends. It is truely a joy to see talent used in such a manner. What a great message for this season, a message of hope, love and joy. I have so much to be grateful for even in such tough economic times. It is easy to get caught up and focus on all the negative, and this song brings the focus back to where it needs to be, on the Savior. He is my true source of joy. I was awed by the pictures portraying the beauty and dignity of God’s children throughout the world. Many of the pictures showed relationships of family love. I had an epiphany: The world is filled with love! Parents who love children, children who love parents, spouses who love each other, siblings who love each other! My family experience is not unique, but part of a beautiful fabric of love covering the entire earth! A fabric of laughter and sacrifice and sorrow and joy.I know that there are many who don’t feel that love and I don’t want anyone to feel left out! “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” We are the human family, all of us God’s children and we have so much love to give and share with one another.
The visuals were wonderful, but the song is uninspiring. The written message powerful, but the overall presentation is too slick, lacking any real heart.

President, and all who were involved. One cannot express the feelings of gratitude enough when our “joy is full”. In the last 30 days I have had the blessing of feeling just that as I served and was served. The Christmas season is truly the best time of the year and this song drives that point home as we all should have joy always because we have a Savior in Christ the Lord. This inspired group has given the true Christmas gift, those who have listened with their heart have felt that joy. May we all, EVERYONE, feel joy and let every heart prepare him room. Thank you does not express enough my sincere gratitude. May the Lord continue to bless and inspire you.

I’m not sure how to put into words what this video meant to me today. The veil is becoming very thin for my mother and I think this may be her last Christmas with us, if she makes it to Christmas. I work with at risk middle school students everyday where I battle constantly to help them make the right choices to stay out of trouble. As I watched the video and listened to the song my soul was lifted and my heart was lightened and I was reminded to release my burdens to my Savior and He would help me to carry the burden. This song is not enjoyable to listen to, not a new Christmas standard. It isn’t composed well, and it isn’t memorable – in fact it is forgettable. It is way too contrived. You should hide it from the world.

How inspiring! I love the idea, the music, the lyrics, and everything about the whole video. It takes a minute to realize that not all the pictures are of American children, that there are children and adults from all over the world represented here. Nothing wrong with American children – I have six of my own – but Christ’s gift of Himself was and is to touch children and adults from every land. My brother died the day before Christmas. It was and has been very difficult. But the redeeming knowledge is that my brother is with the Savior. Christmas day I thought of the words that the Savior spoke to the thieves with him the day of his ascention to the Father. The words his spoke “today you shall be with me in paradise” gave me joy. My brother was a wonderful example of kindness while on the earth.
It gave me great joy to think of him in paradise. Christmas from here on out will have even more of a special meaning for me.
This beautiful song and accompanying video came straight from God through the humble hands and hearts of those who were willing to serve and share. I know you were inspired by the Spirit of the Lord when you created this—The Lord himself wants THIS message to be told, in THIS very way, to the whole world.

What a beautiful and generous gift to everyone. I lost a dear friend and my father the past few months and this song really touched my heart. My friend loved to send me special messages on the internet and I have really missed her. I know that had she still been alive I would have received your joytoeveryone, from her. But because she was gone I received it another way. I don’t usually read the paper,however an article in my town paper caught my eye. I went straight to my computer brought up your website and enjoyed a very special Christmas gift thanks to your generosity! Thank you! I did then forward it to many family and friends. I love music and especially like to hear new songs. The beautiful multicultural pictures and video were amazing. I read the story of your music and have returned to it several times.
